For you to stop your comfort eating something in your life has to change. First you have to change how you think about yourself and your life. Then you have to put that change into action. In short, you have to take responsibility for creating a better life. You may be thinking, “I know what is causing me to feel unhappy but there’s nothing I can do about it.” Or you may be thinking, “If I change this that is making me unhappy I will end up alone.” Or you may be thinking, “If I do what I know I need to do people will be really upset with me.” Or you may be thinking, “That’s just not me. I don’t like change. I can’t do this.” Nobody likes change. That’s human nature. And there is always a risk that if you take action to change something in your life, even if it’s absolutely the right thing to do, that some people will be upset and even leave you. Here are some truths: Change is inevitable. If you don’t take responsibility for your life’s direction then change will do it for you and perhaps not in a way that is good for you. Life is not easy. You were meant to grow from your life challenges. You were meant to develop your character and act with courage. If you take the time and effort to know what is right for you then ultimately it becomes right for those around you even if they are initially disappointed. You are stronger than you think you are. If you really want to take control of your eating then take control of your life. You are stronger than you think.
