What would you change today if you could? There are No Limits here; you’ve already been empowered. I said, “if you could” so just assume that you can. With your answer in mind, ask yourself “how” you’ll do that, and then Listen. Perhaps this short little article will be therapeutic in a way. It will if you allow it to be. If you’ve been trying to change something and find that you’ve been unable to this point, please realize that you’re not alone. It’s easy to feel like “you’re the only one”, but most likely millions are going through the same process. I’m not saying to simply accept that “it’s normal” or trying to make you feel better with “misery loves company”. You’re not alone because there are those who can help you unravel the mystery that is similar to others, but uniquely yours.
To “listen” with a realistic expectation of hearing, requires you to surrender. If you’ve never considered associating “surrender” with listening, please do so now. Realize that often people say they’re listening, yet do not hear. The “subtle nuance” or manner in which we go about the act, can provide differential results that can be monumental. That can be a component in the transition from good to great. Have you ever been in a conversation where you were listening while thinking about what your reply was going to be? Worrying more about “how you were going to be perceived” based on your reply, overshadowed the speakers message. If you were fully present and focused completely on the input, do you think you’d understand it better? Whether listening to others, or to your self—to your inner voice, there is most certainly an art to hearing. Higher understanding is the dividend.
OK, so you have something in mind that you’d like to change. You learned to be still and listen, and got some answers. Do you trust the answers? If not, why not? Surrender actually might be a word that works here too. Isn’t it amazing that at times “we argue with ourselves”. When that’s happening, slow down and realize that it is perfectly alright to be completely honest with yourself. There is nobody standing there waiting to criticize you or remind you of past events … other than you. Go ahead and use some logic now—isn’t it absurd to be self-critical to the point where it creates fear and limits our ability to become who we were intended to be?
Logically it is easy to see that we shouldn’t permit that to happen, but self-doubt, fear, and anything that keeps us playing small is rooted in emotion not logic. Our conscious mind deals with logic– our subconscious with the attachments of emotional events (core beliefs) and decisions in the past, which we unconsciously apply to our daily operating system controlling our behavior. If you have a desire– attempt to make it reality– are frustrated by poor results– know it’s not just fantasy– logically “it should work”, it’s probably time to seek the assistance of a “mind guide”. A competent Clinical Hypnotherapist may hold the key that lets you gain access to the answers within, and the power to alter your life as you know it. An old Sufi poet wrote, “When I let go of what I am, I can become who I might be”.
Think about your amazing body and its’ components. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi:
Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions.
Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny. Wouldn’t you agree then, that positive thought, is a biological mandate for wellness? We’ve learned that diet can improve health. We’ve learned that exercise can enhance appearance and performance. Doesn’t it make sense that “noggin-work” enhances emotional wellness? Learn how–a qualified hypnotherapist will help you tune-up your mind, thoughts, and actions—and teach you how to continue reinforcement through self-hypnosis. It’s a therapy that goes to the root of the problem quickly, and that is where permanent change begins.
