Some people never set goals for fear of failure or success. Change always bring about resistance. All humans find change to be potentially stressful, even good change. If you set a goal and you succeed that means that your life will change. And even though the change may be exactly what you want it still has within it sacrifices. For example, if you become a recording artist that may mean that you don’t have a stable home life if you have to travel to perform. Or if you decide to get a graduate degree you will have to spend time studying and taking tests. This may mean that some of your other commitments will have to be put on hold. Or if you decide to clean out your closets that means you may have to give up hording some of the things you thought you wanted to keep. Or if you choose to quit smoking that may mean that you will feel miserable for a while and even gain some weight. There is a sacrifice for everything, for every change. Don’t be afraid to face them. Just become aware of them. Decide if the sacrifice required is worth reaching the goal. If so, move ahead without hesitation. Those who put off setting goals because they fear the sacrifices may be stuck in a joyless life. Live your life intelligently and be willing to take the risks of sacrifice. Ultimately you will be happy.
